NEC License Exam
What Is the NEC License Exam?
The NEC License Exam is a professional licensing examination organized by the Nepal Engineering Council (NEC) for engineering graduates to become General Registered Engineers in Nepal. It is required by law to practice as a professional engineer and obtain an official engineering license after completing a recognized bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture.
Purpose of the Exam
To regulate the engineering profession in Nepal systematically.
To ensure that engineering graduates meet minimum professional and ethical standards required in industry and public works.
To certify competent professionals who can legally use the title “Registered Engineer” and carry out engineering work.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to take the NEC License Exam:
✅ You must have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Architecture from a university recognized by NEC.
✅ If you studied abroad, you must obtain an equivalence certificate from the authorized government body (e.g., Tribhuvan University or Nepal government).
Other typical requirements include:
✔ Nepalese citizenship (or permanent residency proof)
✔ Submission of academic documents (SEE, 10+2, Bachelor, transcripts)
✔ Passport-size photo and other notarized certificates (details below)
